Manual reporting processes were time-consuming, and their existing system lacked the flexibility and scalability required to align operations with sustainability goals.
The ASRS is a set of standards introduced by the Australian government requiring companies to disclose climate-related financial information. This is in response to escalating climate concerns and is effective from 1 January 2025.
Microsoft Sustainability Manager is a solution from Microsoft that helps organisations record, report, and reduce their environmental impact. It is part of the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability and offers different versions (Essentials and Premium) with varied features for data collection, emissions calculation, and reporting.
It assists in data management, emissions calculation, sustainability reporting, providing actionable insights, and integrating with other solutions. It helps in reducing environmental impact and achieving sustainability goals.
The two versions are Essentials and Premium. The Premium version, recommended for trials, includes more capabilities than the Essentials version.
The ongoing costs for using Microsoft Sustainability Manager include license costs and implementation costs. License costs can be found on the Microsoft Sustainability Manager website. As for implementation costs, these are contingent on a discovery/scoping exercise conducted by our team to tailor the solution to your specific needs and organisational context. This exercise ensures that the implementation aligns with your unique sustainability objectives and IT infrastructure. Microsoft charge $4,000 USD per month for the essential’s version of Sustainability Manager and $12,000 USD per month for premium version. Our Below Baseline solution is also based on a subscription model based on the number of data sources and size of your organisation. Please reach out to us to get an indicative price.

Below Baseline is a Microsoft Sustainability Partner and an independent Software Vendor that extends the capabilities of Microsoft Sustainability Manager. It offers custom emissions factors, reports, AI utility bill automation, integration connectors, and consulting services.
The POC includes consultant-led workshops, assessment of data management practices, setup and configuration of Microsoft Sustainability Manager, deployment of Below Baseline solutions, data ingestion, and a roadmap & plan.
IT teams will need to provision a Sustainability Manager environment in your Microsoft tenancy, which involves signing up for a trial, deploying the solution, ensuring security, and providing access to necessary personnel.
